Child & Adolescent Development

Our Child and Adolescent Development course encourages students to use current research to think critically about developmental theories and practices. You will explore which nutritional, physical, parental, educational, societal, and other factors will lead to optimal physical, cognitive, and psychosocial outcomes for the next generation of children. Whether you have children of your own, or are interested in a career with children or adolescents, this is an ideal choice to help you learn more. Our curriculum will provide a thorough introduction on the various levels of child and adolescent development.

Child Health, Safety and Nutrition

Our Child Health, Safety, and Nutrition course explores the role of early childhood educators in fulfilling the nutrition, health and safety needs of young children in their care. This course identifies the professional standards of the field and discusses best practices for applying them in the early care setting.  Students will learn how to teach healthy practices and to promote the overall wellness of children. Our Child Health, Safety, and Nutrition course is for anyone who works in a role that touches children's lives. The material is based on the most current research and reflects the latest developments in health, safety and nutrition as well as their application in multiple settings.

Teacher's Aide

There are a number of teacher’s aide jobs that directly assist teachers, administrators, and instructors that are vital to the successful education of students of all ages and skill levels. A teacher’s aide is an indispensable individual who performs a number of teacher’s aide jobs such as providing instructional and clerical support to classroom teachers, meeting with parents, supervising children, and/or helping teachers set up for special projects. Our Teacher’s Aide course will provide you with a thorough understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a paraprofessional in a classroom setting.

SMART Board Training

This course is intended to teach educators or business professionals how to use the SMART Board interactive whiteboard.  SMART Board is designed to engage students and deliver unique presentations. Our course will allow participants to explore SMART Board software and learn how to create interactive lessons or presentations for the classroom and business world.

Creating Safe Classroom Environments

As an educator, you work to make sure your students are in a physically safe classroom environment, but what about socially and emotionally? It is extremely important for students to feel valued, that their social identity and cultures are accepted, and that they are welcomed members of the classroom.   • Operating Systems - Windows 7 or higher
  • Microsoft Office 2013 or higher. Also, you could use a general Word Processing application to save and open Microsoft Office formats (.doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, .pptx)
  • Internet Browsers - Google Chrome is highly recommended
    • Cookies MUST be enabled
    • Pop-ups MUST be allowed (Pop-up Blocker disabled)
  • The Kindle Reader App or VitalSource Bookshelf App are needed for many of our courses (No special equipment needed. This can be downloaded for FREE onto your computer.)
  • PowerPoint Viewer (if you do not have PowerPoint)
  • Adobe PDF Reader
  • QuickTime, Windows Media Player &/or Real Player
